Mike is past chairman of Development Services Group and former president of Community Counseling Service. He and his wife Annette have lived, worked and served in District 3 for over 30 years. Annette is a culinary instructor, past president of the Italian Museum, and a member of the Little Sisters of the Poor Auxiliary.
Mike has guided civic leaders on non-profit projects for healthcare, educational, social, cultural, civic and religious causes throughout the U.S and Canada. Local projects include: Save the Cable Cars, On-Lok Senior Services, BRIDGE-Affordable Housing, Renovation of Fort Mason Center, Louise Davies Center, The Archbishop's Scholarship Fund and The National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assisi. Mike serves on the boards of the North Beach Neighbors, Columbus Day Committee, U.S.F. Hospitality Management Program and the Handicapables. He is a board member of the American Institute of Ethics with former Mayor Frank Jordan, former State Senator Jackie Speier, civic leader Alessandro Baccari and other civic leaders.
Two mayors, the archbishop and the governor have entrusted Mike with major responsibilities. Mayor Newsom appointed him to the Council to End Chronic Homelessness chaired by Angela Alioto where he helped the council write the plan for supportive housing. Mayor Brown appointed him to the Commission on Aging; he reviewed Adult Protective Services. Governor Schwarzenegger appointed Mike to the state Commission on Aging. It is developing a strategic plan for California seniors. Archbishop Levada recruited Mike to guide his Scholarship Fund for Needy Students and to advise the National Shrine of Saint Francis of Assis in North Beach.
Mike DeNunzio graduated St. John's University, NY, and served six years as a personnel specialist in the U.S. Army Reserves. He taught law and economics at McClancy College Prep in Queens, NY, and was also an adjunct instructor at the University of San Francisco.
